Experience

Chemical Insecticide Corporation (CIC) Superfund Site

O'Brien & Gere is providing long-term monitoring (LTM) and assessment services as part of the remedial design (RD) of Operable Unit 4 (groundwater). The CIC site was used for the formulation and manufacturing of insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, and herbicides, which led to widespread chemical contamination at the Site, as well as the migration of contaminants to offsite areas. EPA is the lead agency for the Site, and NJDEP is the support agency. The project is being executed in a phased approach as a cost-effective means for properly designing the LTM well network. Project plans developed for the site during implementation of the phases include: field sampling plans, uniform federal policy-quality assurance project plans, site specific health and safety plan, hazard evaluation, and contractor quality control plans.

Former American Cyanamid Site Remediation

The primary focus of activities at the site has been the investigation and remediation of areas of waste residuals. O’Brien & Gere has performed investigation, design, and remedial activities at the site under the regulatory requirements of a US EPA Region II-lead Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) closure program. Additional activities conducted by O’Brien & Gere have been in support of ecosystem restoration and risk assessment, including biological assessment of fish and wildlife and environmental restoration. Tasks have included: preliminary surveys, agency coordination, toxicity testing, aquatic community assessment, wetland delineation and permitting, endangered species surveys, population studies, habitat evaluation, and habitat site mapping.
