Project Highlights:
- Guthrie Health Care Systems retained O’Brien & Gere to provide geotechnical services related to an addition to the Robert Packer Hospital.
- Four 20,000-gallon underground storage tanks, for storage of fuel oil used as a back-up fuel source for the hospital’s dual-fired boilers, were located in the proposed expansion area.
- Reviewed PADEP regulatory requirements
- Evaluated the hospital’s need for four tanks, and recommended moving one or, at the most, two tanks to the vicinity of the boiler/maintenance building.
- Soil testing was performed at the original site of the tanks to confirm that the area was free of contaminants.
- Identified storm water management issues and provided coordination with the parking deck consultant and utility providers.
