Richard Cawley serves as Vice President of Business Development for our Environmental Solutions Group. With 21 years of experience with a wide variety of environmental engineering projects, Mr. Cawley has acquired a significant base of knowledge in the areas of geologic and hydrogeologic research and investigation, site assessments, remediation of industrial facilities, hazardous waste sites, underground storage tank programs, industrial facility decommissioning and demolition. Mr. Cawley’s high level of skill in his areas of expetise is demonstrated by his status as a Certified Professional Geologist, Professional Geologist, and New Jersey Subsurface Evaluator. Working across all industry sectors as a business development leader, Mr. Cawley delivers innovative and cost-effective environmental solutions to his clients.

As Vice President of Business Development for our Capital & Facilities Group, John Kurtz provides a wide array of engineering design and construction services for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, R&D, institutional, power industry, and corporate commercial clients. With more than 20 years of professional experience in his field, Mr. Kurtz has demonstrated his skill through project management, value engineering, constructability reviews, and operations management. He has performed work in Japan, the Far East, and Europe, and his global perspective has given him creative insight into the demands of a wide variety of programs. Mr. Kurtz applies his design and construction knowledge to a range of projects, nurturing strong client relationships and ensuring that the goals and objectives of each project are thoroughly met.

Mr. Traister has more than 19 years of environmental consulting experience and has spearheaded many of the Firm’s most challenging air quality and environmental compliance projects. A recognized expert in the fields of air permitting, emission inventory development, and air and odor pollution control design, Mr. Traister is the author of more than 20 technical papers and publications. He routinely provides project management functions for complex regulatory programs involving New Source Review, Title V, RACT/BACT/MACT studies, permitting, and regulatory consent orders.
In his role as the Firm’s Midwest Air Quality Practice Leader, Mr. Traister is responsible for business development and strategic planning efforts associated with the expansion of our Air Quality Solutions practice throughout the Midwest. He maintains administrative responsibilities for all air quality staff within the region and often provides technical review/direction during the preparation of work products, designs and compliance strategies.

Jon Norman has over 20 years of professional experience with air permitting, regulatory compliance evaluations, air pollution control design, and chemical process design. As a Managing Engineer, Mr. Norman is responsible for providing comprehensive project management and follow-up after project completion. He has lent his knowledge and skill to numerous sector projects, and has demonstrated expertise in RACT/BACT/MACT studies, industrial ventilation, and waste minimization. Mr. Norman currently heads our duct injection/SO2 control program, and has considerable experience with delivering this innovative technology to clients for the abatement of SO2 and acid gases in discharge ducts.

Mark has over 27 years of environmental engineering experience with an emphasis in air quality regulations, environmental assessments, air quality measurements, and acoustical engineering. He assists clients in the industrial, manufacturing and energy sectors to comply with federal and state regulations, and Title V and facility permits. He has developed three specialized source testing methods (patented) for clients with unique process emissions and unusual permit conditions. As manager of the Air Quality Division, Mark leads the firm's significant investment and growth of resources in all of our regions. Mark also leads O'Brien & Gere's acoustical engineering services ranging from industrial process noise control to modeling and mitigation design of large re-powering projects.
