Responsibilities

O'Brien & Gere is an employee-owned engineering and project delivery company with 800 scientists, engineers, construction and operation personnel in 30 offices across the U.S. With a 65-year history of applying technology and innovation, O'Brien & Gere is a leader in providing total water, environmental, and capital and facilities solutions. We currently have an opportunity in our Alpharetta, GA office for an experienced Business Developer / Regional Marketing Representative. This position will work with and under the direction of the Regional Business Unit leader in developing business for the Georgia municipal utilities and infrastructure market, with primary focus on municipal governments and water / wastewater agencies. The overall goal is to be proactive with marketing activities so that O'Brien & Gere is well positioned for targeted work prior to the formal solicitation. Primary activities will include a review of current marketing strategy / approach, meeting with prospective targeted clients, providing an overview of our capabilities, and identifying future opportunities that align nest to our capabilities. The typical responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Establish relationships with Georgia municipal clients
  • Prepare client development plans for each prospective client
  • Prepare and review market research, interpret data and use findings in making contacts
  • Participate in professional organizations including GAWP, ACCG and GMA
  • Attend conferences, workshops and tradeshows to be in contact with clients and prospective clients
  • Facilitate follow-up meetings with prospective clients and appropriate O'Brien & Gere technical personnel
  • Prepare Business Call Reports, maintain client call schedules, and BD database
  • Take an active role in assistance in the preparation of marketing promotional pieces (e.g. Fact Sheets, Standard Sections, Brochures, etc.)
  • Provide guidance to proposal teams from inception to completion; assist in the development if the pricing structure as well as other contract terms and conditions; obtain senior Management approvals
  • Lead monthly marketing meetings in Alpharetta office; gather intelligence from O'Brien & Gere engineers and share information on leads
  • Adhere to policies and standards set forth in O'Brien & Gere's QMS documents
  • Meets sales goals established by the Regional and National business unit leaders
Skills and Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering, Environmental Science or Business (equivalent)
  • 10+ years of experience in the municipal water / wastewater market, primarily within the business development in the Georgia market
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive sales growth and client relationship within the State of Georgia
  • Willing to travel with at least 50% of weekly time spent external to the office
Salary Range Commensurate with experience
