O’Brien & Gere has been selected by the
Clark County Department of Utilities, Ohio to provide environmental engineering services in support of a major upgrade and expansion project at the southwest regional wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The current
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) issued by the
Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) requires that the facility expand capacity from 2.0 mgd to 4.0 mgd by March 2015. The expansion will satisfy regulatory requirements and allow the County to continue providing reliable wastewater treatment for the 11,000 residents and businesses it serves. O’Brien & Gere was selected for its extensive wastewater infrastructure improvement experience in the Midwest and nationwide.
In a contract valued at nearly $1 million, O’Brien & Gere will design equipment and process upgrades at the existing treatment facilities to meet expanded capacity and new permit requirements for nitrification and solids dewatering. Recognizing the evolving
Ohio Nutrient Reduction Strategy and
Gulf of Mexico Hypoxia Program for improved regional water quality, the design will also consider nutrient removal when upgrading processes. In addition, the project includes permitting and bidding services, as well as securing funding assistance from the
Ohio Water Pollution Control Loan Fund and
Ohio Water Development Authority.
This new contract represents O’Brien & Gere’s first project with Clark County and is positioning the Company to provide future services associated with this municipal facility expansion project valued at $7 million.
