Jim Fox Serves as Panelist at 2012 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit

June 27, 2012

O’Brien & Gere CEO & Chairman of the Board Jim Fox was among eight business and energy efficiency experts invited to speak on a panel for the policy-business leader session at the 2012 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit hosted by Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP). The annual summit, which took place on June 13 – 14, 2012 in Stamford, Connecticut, brought together thought leaders in public policy, business, utilities, and consumer and environmental advocacy to advance energy efficiency as a solution to the challenge of reliable, affordable, and clean energy.

Jim joined other policy and business leaders known throughout the region for their commitment to energy efficiency to speak on the panel, The Business Case for Energy Efficiency in the Northeast – A Business-Policy Dialogue. This panel explored the role of energy efficiency in helping businesses to succeed in a region characterized by high energy costs. Jim contributes a unique industry perspective through O’Brien & Gere’s history of working on energy challenges for both private and public interests, including a strong working relationship with New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Jim also recently contributed this unique perspective at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Roundtable on “Executing a Sustainable Infrastructure Vision” on March 9, 2012. Here, Jim joined CEOs from leading U.S. design and engineering companies and subject matter experts from the CEQ and other federal agencies to discuss the possibility of defining and executing a national sustainable infrastructure policy and rating system. The conversation also aimed to identify and discuss the gap between infrastructure procurement opportunities and the Administration’s vision for sustainable infrastructure.

Jim’s professional commitment to energy solutions began in the early 1980s, in his role as a junior engineer focused on energy audits, and energy remains a commitment in Jim’s position as CEO at O’Brien & Gere. He continues to advocate for energy efficiency through his position on the Board of Directors of the CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity (CEO), the Business Council of New York State (BCNYS), and the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY).
