Tasks:
  • Layout of the new production facilities
  • Design of extensive modifications to the existing building, as required to accommodate production
  • Design of rail spur extensions and railcar unloading facilities
  • Specify and prepurchase long-lead equipment, including clay storage bin, conveyors, bucket elevators, and dust collector
  • Design of new electrical substation and power distribution to manufacturing line
  • Development of P&ID’s, re-install PLC controls
  • Design of dust collection system
  • Design of heating and ventilating system  

Project Highlights:  

  • Prepared contract drawings for bidding and construction purposes for relocation of all major components of the manufacturing and packaging lines, as well as anticipated new components
  • Relocated a hoisting system, a mineral oil addition system, and a premix transfer system with new conveyor to connect to a new bucket elevator
  • Performed bid, award, and oversight of structural and architectural work necessary to modify the existing building to accommodate the product line, including foundations, structural steel, and siding
  • Performed bid, award, and oversight of fire sprinkler system modifications
  • Designed and constructed a new rail spur including a switch and 400 ft of track and a railcar unloading pit beneath the track for delivery of raw materials
  • Designed a penthouse, 60’ x 60’ x 17’ in height, to accommodate tall equipment, including storage bins, bucket elevators, and fillers
  • Designed new foundations to support the penthouse from the floor of the existing building
  • Designed a new dust collection system with a capacity of 6000 cfm
  • Relocated existing and purchased new equipment
