- Recommended rigorous evaluation of multiple plant powering options to support economic feasibility of the plant
- Compared economic benefits of re-using facility’s existing pulverized coal boiler against more environmentally friendly options such as natural gas
- Sought and received a State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit application from NYSDEC
- Assisted with right-to-build activities including subdivision of the site, area variance approvals process, and conceptual site plans Evaluated modifications and/or enhancements needed to site’s wastewater treatment plant in order to proceed with re-development of the site
Project Highlights:
- Provided strategic environmental permitting and site planning assistance to support a 100 million gallon per year ethanol production facility
- Revitalization of a former commercial brewery within an established Empire Zone
- Recommended approach eliminated potential regulatory hurdles associated with the use of coal, and lowered overall facility emissions to below major source thresholds, which effectively cut the permitting time in half (from one year to less than 6 months)
- Creative process design and pro-active regulatory planning, succeeded in securing the required environmental permits and approvals for this client in less than six months compared to project duration of 12-18 months that the development team had experienced with similar projects
