Project Highlights:
- Upgrades required to comply with federal pharmaceutical Effluent Guidelines (EG) Rules and federal National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) rules for pharmaceutical production sources [the Maximum Available Control Technology ("MACT") rule]
- Sequential approach was developed to complete the EG compliance work first, followed by the MACT compliance work
- Maximum daily flow – 600,000 gpd (0.6 MGD)
- Partitioning of existing 680,000 gal tanks to create two flow equalization tanks (300,000 gal each) and two sequencing batch reactor tanks (380,000 gal each)
- Alternative approaches to the construction of the wastewater treatment plant were considered, with the intention of maximizing the use of available infrastructure and minimizing the need for construction of new tankage
- Construction Management personnel provided oversight and support to the client during Performance Qualification (PQ) activities
