Long-Term Monitoring (LTM) and Assessment Services

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District, Edison, NJ

The team of HDR | LMS and O’Brien & Gere is providing Long-Term Monitoring (LTM) and Assessment services as part of the Remedial Design (RD) of Operable Unit 4 – Ground Water at the former Chemical Insecticide Corporation (CIC) Superfund Site (Site) in Edison, New Jersey. This project is under a three-year Indefinite Delivery Architect-Engineer Services Contract in Support of Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) Program with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Kansas City District.

Long-term monitoring optimization (LTMO) techniques are being employed for this project. Monitoring optimization increases efficiency, reduces cost, identifies uncertainties and/or increases the reliability of LTM programs. Tasks to date have included a baseline well inventory/usability survey to determine the location, condition and depth of the existing onsite and offsite wells which, along with a comprehensive review of historical data, is being used to assess the usability of each well in the current monitoring well network. A technical memorandum is also being developed which summarizes the planning and project approach for the CIC Site for key stakeholder (Federal and State regulatory agencies) acceptance.
