Tasks:
- Identified required actions to prepare equipment and facilities for demolition in compliance with environmental regulations
- Made recommendations for actions to be taken to comply with federal, state, and local government regulations
- Identified items and equipment which required special handling or additional cleaning
- Site comprised approximately 18 buildings, 9 of which, totaling 1.3 million ft
- Rerouting of the electrical utilities required design of an underground concrete duct bank to be placed under a main roadway
- Client requested that a "bomb shelter" be designed around existing phone relay room, located in a building that was to be demolished2, were demolished
Project Highlights:
- Previously successfully used the manufacturer’s standards on other deactivation projects in Philadelphia, PA; Ft. Wayne, IN, and Schenectady, NY
- Completed comprehensive survey to identify materials/substances in the buildings that could be considered hazardous wastes as defined by RCRA and TSCA
- A total of 4 samples for metals analysis, 4 samples for pH analysis, and 38 samples for PCB analysis were collected
