Town of Colonie, Division of Latham Water, NY
The American Public Works Association (APWA) awarded O'Brien & Gere its Project of the Year Award (Environmental / Water (>$10 million) category) for the water treatment plant expansion for the Latham Water District.
Since the 1960s, O’Brien & Gere has been providing water system engineering services to the Town of Colonie, Division of Latham Water. Currently, O’Brien & Gere is completing a multi-phased Water System Comprehensive Facilities and Water Quality Management Plan in order to provide a “roadmap” for near-term and long-term development and operation of the Town’s water infrastructure. The program was initiated in 2003, and two phases of the work have been completed. The third is underway. Major tasks completed and/or in progress include the following: distribution operational strategy review, distribution system model development, existing water demand allocation, diurnal curve development, hydraulic model calibration, identification of system storage deficiencies, disinfection byproduct management, corrosion control, future water demand allocation, and identification of system deficiencies.
