Town of Niagara, NY
In an effort to preserve green space within its boundaries, the Town of Niagara acquired 126 acres of forest, shrubland, hayfields, and wetlands for development into a multi-use community center and recreational area. Following the development of a master plan for the area, the Town retained O’Brien & Gere as part of a team to initiate Phase 1 of the site development program. The master plan for the site included an athletic complex (four baseball diamonds and two multi-use athletic fields), pond, roadway system to service park users year round, walking/ bicycling/rollerblading trail systems, Civic Center, administration and Cultural Center Building, sledding hill, and a 6,000 ft2 multi-use building for concession stand and maintenance activities.
As the lead member of the site development team, O’Brien & Gere was responsible for coordinating the overall design for the site. Phase 1 construction is complete, and Phase 2 will consist of design and construction of a 40,000 ft2 Community Center Building.
This project was a recipient of the 2004 Gold Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York).
