Community General Hospital, Syracuse, NY
O’Brien & Gere was retained by Community General Hospital (CGH) to perform engineering services associated with the planning and construction of a new road, and modifications to a parking lot, to coincide with New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) roadway improvements to NYS Route 173 in front of the hospital.
O’Brien & Gere assisted the CGH management team with the new road construction project, which was performed by the NYSDOT, by providing the following:

Review of NYSDOT construction documents to identify and assess impacts to CGH

Participation in the appraisal review conducted by the NYSDOT on the CGH land being condemned for the new road

Coordination of design and approvals with OCDOT and NYSDOT

Review of CGH parking lot access and control features necessary to maintain site condition controls (i.e., gated access) based on proposed NYSDOT construction activities

Evaluation of CGH parking and utility plans

Development of several alternative facility construction cost estimates
Changes to the road system necessitated modifications to the CGH’s parking lots. As such, O’Brien & Gere assisted CGH with the following:

Review of existing lighting on the CGH campus, and preparation of a new layout or relocation of existing lighting poles, as necessary

Preparation of a landscaping plan consistent with existing conditions and available budget
-
Preparation of construction documents for parking lot modification
-
Shop drawing review
-
Consultation with CGH personnel during construction
