Chesapeake Bay, VA
O’Brien & Gere has been retained to work on many important wastewater treatment projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region under the 2000 Chesapeake Bay Agreement for enhanced nutrient removal (ENR). The firm gained experience in ENR long before the Chesapeake Bay Program imposed these requirements. O’Brien & Gere’s experience in ENR goes back to the early 1980s when the firm helped its clients meet stringent classifications for receiving waters such as the Neuse River, the Pamlico Sound, and the New York City Watershed. In the Mid-Atlantic, major new ENR projects involve nutrient pollutants from all sources, including sewage treatment plants, under the 2000 program — listed below.
