Patuxent Water Filtration Plant Facility Plan, Rehabilitation, and Expansion

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, Laurel, MD

Nearly $24 million in construction costs saved, additional treatment capacity, and flexibility to meet future regulations - all results from a comprehensive evaluation, detailed facility plan, and design that O'Brien & Gere completed for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission's Patuxent Water Filtration Plant. The planning criteria took into account economics, reliability, water quality, environmental and community effects, and system redundancy needs, and the resulting plan determined the final design for rehabilitation and expansion of the plant, pumping stations, and finished water storage.
