Delaying or entirely eliminating major capital treatment costs. That was the outcome O'Brien & Gere was able to provide to a major pharmaceutical manufacturer utilizing a customized mathematical model to assess and control wastewater production and treatment and ultimately identify ways to reduce or eliminate disposal costs. The model, developed by O'Brien & Gere, evaluated a variety of production scenarios and schedules, along with a host of potential wastewater management solutions and cost estimates. The result was that plans for a new treatment plant, projected to cost several millions of dollars, were deferred for more than five years, and in the interim, replaced with alternative actions.
