When Cayuga County awarded this project to O'Brien & Gere, little did anyone know that in return the project itself would receive awards.

The County originally retained O’Brien & Gere to provide contract document review, bid phase assistance, and construction inspection services for rehabilitation of the Owasco Outlet East and West Piers. The project, which was designed by the US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), was approximately 80% complete at the time O’Brien & Gere began its review of the drawings and specifications. The County requested that O’Brien & Gere (New York State registered Professional Engineers) sign and seal the Contract Documents; but before that could happen, O'Brien & Gere advised the County that a detailed review would be necessary. The County agreed, and the review was completed in a two-week time frame.

Following the review, O’Brien & Gere began incorporating changes identified as necessary to complete the project according to the County’s standards and preferences. Final design and preparation of the Contract Documents was completed in approximately 5 weeks. The project was completed on time and under budget and received the following awards:
