3.6 MW Wind Turbine, Alcan - Oswego, Scriba, New York
As part of the Scriba Wind Power Project, O’Brien & Gere completed the site preparation work for the tower foundation, crane pad and substation pad, including the necessary clearing and fencing work for the project area. O’Brien & Gere prepared design drawings signed and sealed by a New York State Professional Engineer to incorporate the proposed grading and pad elevations required for three foundation areas. To comply with the storm water permitting requirements, O’Brien & Gere prepared the documentation to support the construction activities.
O’Brien & Gere utilized Alcan base drawings to prepare a proposed grading plan for site preparation, accounting for the proposed elevations established by the client for the tower and crane pad foundations, proposed clearing limits and new fence location. The grading plan also included erosion and sedimentation control features. O'Brien & Gere prepared technical specifications for the earthwork, structural excavation and backfill, and fencing to support the site preparation work.
To comply with the New York Sate Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES), General Permit for Storm Water Discharges from Construction Activities, permit No. GP-02-01 (effective January 8, 2003) requirements, O’Brien & Gere prepared a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) to instruct construction personnel on mitigation measures to prevent pollutants in storm water runoff from exiting the site and entering downstream watercourses.
As part of the task, O'Brien & Gere also completed the Notice of Intent (NOI) for the General Permit for the project.
