Sewer System Infrastructure Evaluation

City of Corning, NY

O'Brien & Gere was retained by the City of Corning to provide a comprehensive sewer system infrastructure evaluation for the entire City and to develop a complete computerized map of the sewer system with aerial photographic survey overlay. The storm sewer system consisted of 247,000 ft of sewer; the sanitary system consisted of approximately 240,000 ft of sewer, ranging in size from 6-inches to 15-inches in diameter. Included in the mapping project were 1440 manholes, 1600 catch basins, and 35 storm water outfalls.

O'Brien & Gere was selected for the work because of its previous evaluation of the City’s sanitary sewer system and storm sewer system. The program served to update the existing information, identify new areas to be addressed, and provide a database of immediately accessible computerized information concerning the entire system.
