Case Study

Every Challenge Has a Backstory

A leading global producer of glass fiber reinforcements for composite systems desired to build a new advanced technology facility to help meet customer demand for bio-based products. The new facility aimed to add manufacturing flexibility to produce different widths and compositions of the company’s non-woven glass fiber veil, which would in turn enable more customers to use the product in their applications.

OBG’s Focus on Solutions

PENTA (an OBG company) provided preliminary and detailed design and engineering services for a greenfield 200,000-square-foot facility with state-of-the-art manufacturing line, coating capability, and research and development activities. The project included design for conventional and pre-engineered buildings, plant process systems, and process utilities, including water, compressed air, natural gas, chilled water, and a wastewater collection system.

Results that Matter

The $128 million facility allowed for the installation of the newest, most advanced manufacturing technologies. The new plant is providing flexibility to produce the wider glass fiber veil, helping the client to achieve better yields to meet growing customer demand, and with less waste. Additionally, the manufacturer is now able to better help its customers move toward their environmental objectives, while also improving their product performance.
