Ali Mahan receives Service Award from the American Water Works Association

Ali Mahan receives Herbert W. Evans, Jr. Distinguished Service Award from the VA AWWA

OBG is pleased to announce that Ali Mahan, PE, a vice president in the company’s water business, has received the Herbert W. Evans, Jr. Distinguished Service Award from the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association (VA AWWA). The annual award recognizes the demonstrated activity of an AWWA member who has contributed outstanding participation, counsel, and progressiveness to the Section. Ali received the award during a banquet held at the WaterJAM 2016 conference on September 14, 2016 in Virginia Beach, VA.

Ali has been a member of the AWWA for more than 20 years, recently serving as National Director of the VA AWWA (2012-2015) and Virginia Section Chair (2010-2011). Ali has served in various leadership positions within the VA AWWA, including Committee Chair, Treasurer, Chair Elect, and Past Chair, and is currently serving his second term as Treasurer. Ali was also awarded the AWWA’s George Warren Fuller Award in 2013.

Ali has more than 35 years of experience managing comprehensive water and wastewater programs for municipal and federal clients. His technical expertise focuses on water transmission, distribution, and treatment; wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment; and regulatory permitting and compliance. Ali has practiced consulting engineering in the Hampton Roads region since 1989 and prior to that, he managed the operation of the Hampton Roads Sanitation District’s Atlantic Wastewater Treatment Plant. His active involvement also extends across many professional associations, including the Water Environment Federation and Virginia Military Institute Alumni Association.
