Bill Meinert gives guest environmental engineering lecture at West PointOBG News,
On April 25, 2016, Bill Meinert, PE, a wastewater practice leader at OBG, presented a guest lecture to cadets studying environmental engineering design at the United Stated Military Academy West Point in New York. An expert in municipal and industrial water and wastewater engineering, Bill discussed with the cadets the $70 million advanced treatment project to improve the Target Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant, which serves the entire West Point military academy.
Teamed with Atkins, OBG is designing a new 3.5-mgd advanced treatment plant that will replace the academy's existing facility and address capacity overages, outdated equipment, and collection system deficiencies. The new plant will employ modern treatment methods and advanced technology to meet state environmental permits for water treatment, as well as feature sustainability elements to achieve multiple net-zero energy goals. Once complete, the new plant will provide efficient wastewater processing well into the future.
Following discussion of the plant upgrade program, Bill also talked about the role that environmental engineers play in similar large multidisciplinary projects, offering the cadets real-life perspective on this engineering field.
Advanced Manufacturing. Energy. Environment. Water. For more than 70 years, OBG has specialized in engineering and problem solving, but the Company’s real strength is creating comprehensive, integrated solutions for our clients. OBG – There’s a way. For more information, visit www.obg.com.
