Frank DeOrio contributes to WEF Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals series

Frank DeOrio
OBG subject matter expert and technical manager Frank DeOrio has recently contributed to the Water Environment Federation’s (WEF) Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals publication series.

As both a contributor and reviewer, Frank lent his expertise in the field of wastewater treatment and collection to the first book of the series, Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals I: Liquid Treatment, which covers all aspects of liquid treatment processes.

WEF publishes books and resources that help water quality professionals enhance their skills, further their technical knowledge, and advance their careers. In its new line of operator training, published with the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC), WEF aims to equip operators with the latest wastewater treatment methods and practices. In addition to learning the basics of liquid treatment processes, this first book provides critical aspects of biological treatment, nutrient removal, and disinfection, as well as the latest guidance on procedures to ensure compliance and equipment efficiency.

Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals I: Liquid Treatment is the first in a series of publications designed to help prepare operators for the first three levels of certification examinations and qualify for continuing education credits. The second book of the series, Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals II: Solids Handling and Support Systems, is expected to be published in 2019.

Frank DeOrio has more than 37 years of experience in the areas of industrial and sanitary wastewater treatment and collection system maintenance, including combined sewer overflow and high-rate flow storage and release facilities, landfill, solid waste management, water treatment and distribution, environmental services, dam safety, lake-level management, hydropower operations, and turbine maintenance. Frank frequently publishes and presents in the field, including at the recent 2018 Environment Conference of The Business Council of New York State.
