Dr. Lyle Trumbull recognized by SAME Philadelphia PostOBG News,
Lyle Trumbull, PhD, an expert in Emergency Response and Risk Assessment at OBG, recently received the Notable Achievement Award, given by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Philadelphia Post for his outstanding contribution to SAME. Lyle accepted the award during the SAME Philadelphia Post Awards and Recognition Dinner on September 13, 2017.
Lyle has been an active member of the Post since 2005. His first foray into Post service was during the 2007 SAME Joint Engineer Training Conference (JETC) where he organized the successful off-site fun run—the Philly SAME Boathouse 5K. His next phase of service took the form of participation on the SAME Philly Post Resiliency Committee (2011–2015) where he helped fulfill streamer requirements. He is currently the Chair of the Resiliency Committee and is spearheading the Post’s first Resiliency event scheduled for November 2017. Since 2016, Lyle has been on the planning committee for the Design and Construction Issues at Hazardous Waste Sites (DCHWS) conference where he has been responsible for organizing the Professional Development Hours for this event. He was elected to the Post Board of Directors in 2013 and is also the Co-Chair of the Program Committee. Finally, Lyle has been the primary organizer for the Philly SAME Young Professionals Development Event at Drexel University since its inception. For three years, this event has provided networking, professional development workshops, and speaker roundtables for SAME young members and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) students from local universities.
About Dr. Lyle Trumbull: Lyle Trumbull is an Emergency Response and Risk Assessment expert at OBG. He is a practical ecologist with 32 years of post-BS experience in academics, government, industry, and consulting. Lyle has been the primary technical consultant on human health and ecological risk assessments for more than 30 clients and has participated in the Planning Section for more 30 drills and/or events. He was awarded the U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation for his service in the Environmental Unit during the six-month response to the Athos I release and was responsible for permitting, booming strategies, and the development and initial management of the Natural Resource Advisor program during the MC 252 response. Prior to OBG, Lyle worked as a biologist for Shell Global Solutions and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He received his MS in biology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, his PhD in biology from the University of Illinois, and served as a National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow in Biosciences Related to the Environment at Harvard University.
