OBG awarded U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contract

Previously off this IDC, OBG conducted a geotechnical investigation of proposed rock cut areas (Tinicum to Marcus Hook Ranges) to support USACE’s deepening design for the Delaware River navigational channel. The purpose of this task was to evaluate subsurface soil and bedrock conditions and “ground-truth” geophysical data interpretations where probable shallow bedrock was indicated. Pictured in the photo is bedrock core collection from a jack-up barge platform in the Delaware River.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District has selected OBG for an Architect-Engineering (A-E) Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical Services Indefinite Delivery Contract (IDC) in support of the military, work for others, and civil works missions of the District. The contract is for five years and carries a value of up to $5,000,000.

OBG will supplement USACE’s capability for providing geo-environmental and geotechnical professional, and related services for planning, design, and construction quality assurance in support of the military, work for others and civil works missions assigned to the District. Work may occur outside the District’s civil works boundaries, which generally include the Delaware River Basin, and the coastlines of New Jersey and Delaware. Assignments will generally be within the North Atlantic Division boundaries, but may also support the Districts overseas missions.

This selection is a testament to OBG’s capabilities and proven performance in the federal marketplace, including existing projects with the Philadelphia, New York, and Kansas City Districts and other federal agencies. OBG has supported the Philadelphia District’s mission since 2006, on 38 task orders, providing technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and chemistry.

“We are so pleased to further strengthen our longstanding partnership with USACE. Our trusted relationship with the Philadelphia District is a testament to our commitment to be the premier provider of integrated solution for our clients and valued partners,” said Thomas Nowlan, PE, Senior Vice President and leader of OBG’s environmental business.
