OBG contributes to DEC’s draft Invasive Species Comprehensive Management PlanOBG News,
The New York State Departments of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Agriculture and Markets (DAM) have announced the release of the state’s draft Invasive Species Comprehensive Management Plan for public comment. The proposed plan is designed to minimize the introduction, establishment, and spread of invasive species throughout New York.
The proposed plan, developed with the support of OBG, identifies key new processes and strategies aimed to reduce the introduction and spread of invasive species (non-native organisms that can cause harm to the environment, human health, and the economy) statewide.
This plan is an outgrowth of OBGs on-the-ground work in invasive species management and ongoing work in ecological research and design spanning across a wide variety of habitats and locations in New York.
